Rockin' With... Some Time Soon

Some Time Soon are an independent pop punk band hailing from Adelaide, Australia. Forming in 2010, these young boys seem to be on the road to success with their debut EP out (Available on iTunes) and having played a tonne of shows in South Australia and interstate. Making up the band is Jack Chambers (Vocals/Guitar), Jack Newlyn (Guitar), Alex Dakiniewicz (Bass) and Nick Moran (Drums). Alex answered some questions, here’s what he had to say.

For someone who has never heard of you, how would you describe ‘Some Time Soon’?
We are a four piece pop-punk band with fast paced catchy choruses.

How did the band form?
Jack & Jack went to school together and one day began jamming together.

How did the name ‘Some Time Soon’ come about?
It was said in conversation as 'We'll come up with a name some time soon.'

You released your debut EP at the start of 2011, how was the writing and recording process especially being an independent band?
We've all been songwriters for a number of years so writing the songs just came naturally over the year of 2010 until we got to the point that we were happy with 5 songs and wanted to record them. The EP was self-funded and we were all very happy with the finished product.

Could we be expecting a follow up EP or full length album anytime soon?
We're working on some new songs at the moment which we hope to release at some point this year.

You seem to play a lot of live shows, how would you describe your live show?
Energetic and exciting.

If you could tour with any band in the world, who would it be?
Blink 182

You’ve created two music videos and both are quite creative, did you come up with the storylines and concepts yourself?
The first video we made (Silently Smiling) was not our idea, the director handed us a script and we went over several concepts and ideas with her to create the finished product. The second video we made (Summer's Here, Another Year) was our idea and most of the scenarios were our own concepts, however we worked closely and collaborated with the same director, Rhiannon Miller, to get the most out of it.

What does Some Time Soon have planned for 2012?
Touring

Where do you hope to see this band in 3 years?
If the band continues then hopefully on our second full length album.

Summer’s Here, Another Year

Thanking Alex for answering some questions, we wish Some Time Soon all the best in 2012 and the future.
