Back in 2010, a young talented boy from Indiana named Jordan Witzigreuter released his debut studio Electronic pop album, I’m Alive, I’m Dreaming, under his stage name The Ready Set. With his catchy young sound he instantly built up a strong fan base throughout USA, slowly emerging into other countries. Now in early 2012, his follow up EP, Feel Good Now, has dropped into my hands.

Hollywood Dream, the second single released kicks off the album. Telling the story of himself in love with an A class celebrity, it’s a song I find to be more diverse to the others. Containing rap like verses, a cutesy sound and lyrics depicting a sweet romance are three things that would be easily described as Jordan’s signature style.

Moving to Killer and Back To Back, where a little more of an aggressive sound comes through discussing more negative sides of love. It comes to a difficult task to describe each song as its own, yes they all fall under the same genre and are fast paced, making them sound all the same when written on paper. But in your ears they all sound different in their own unique way; they all have their own individual recognisable sound.

The homerun on the album I really enjoyed which is quite rare, Young Forever, Operator and Notions were my stand out tracks from the EP. Young Forever was the first single released, and it maintains a youthful beat that makes you want to dance and sing along. While Operator is set in the feel of a conversation, which I thought was a creative twist. Concluding the album is the cute love song, Notions, which just happens to be my personal favourite.

The name of the album pretty much explains what you’re about to listen too. All seven tracks are upbeat, fun, happy, youthful and make you feel good, making the diversity between fast and slow songs low but very enjoyable to listen too. I think that’s why I enjoyed it so much, it’s not a depressing or deep thinking album, it’s carefree and fun. It could be argued that The Ready Set’s music is immature, but his music is aimed at a certain genre and age group, which is where he will succeed most.

Feel Good Now makes you Feel Good Now.
